At Life Force Health Chiropractic in Pacific Beach with Dr. Peter Seguinot, Plantar Fascitis is a common thing that we see with many new patients. Your feet are your main foundation. If your foundation is off, then the rest of your body will be affected negatively, such as hip pain low back pain, knee pain . Just as a house is built with a solid foundation, your feet provide the foundation for your spine. And remember your spine is your lifeline. If You have any concerns, feel free to call us at (858)273-6700
Did you know that plantar fascitis is primarily caused by the calcaneus bone of the foot being subluxated. If your asking yourself, what does subluxated mean? A subluxated bone, refers to a bone out of place, causing that bone to move abnormally, which impacts the kinetic chain.
In the case of the foot, the calcaneus bone shifts excessively to the right or to the left of its normal position, therefore causing a strain on the plantar fascia. The plantar fascia is a ligament that runs on the underside of the foot. When the plantar fascia is strained, pain may start to develop. If left untreated, spurs start to develop on the plantar fascia as a way of compensating for the abnormal strain of the foot. As we all know when there is pain, especially when walking or running we start to compensate with the way we move, therefore causing more abnormal movement throughout our entire body. When we do that, we may start to develop both knee or low back pain. When this occurs do not procrastinate or neglect as the symptoms will worsen.!!! Custom made orthotics, (Footlevelers) should be part of your foot care.
So you maybe asking yourself, Dr. Peter what is the treatment at Life Force Health Chiropractic for this foot problem? Do I cut the plantar fascia off? No! No! No!” That’s a joke.” Here is the solution to your problem. First we scan the foot with our 3D foot scanner by footleveler (custom made orthotics) and assess the severity of your dropped arches. Did you know that there are 3 arches in the foot? Which I will discuss in further blogs.
Next I adjust/thus restoring the calcaneus bone. Then break up any adhesions or scar tissue that may have developed throughout the plantar fascia. Followed by cold laser treatments of the foot for 10 to 15 minutes. Cold laser treatments reduce pain and inflammation Followed by taping the foot into a supportive position that will act as temporary arch support, until you receive your custom made orthotics. Six to twelve treatments are definitely necessary in order to retrain the body to hold its position, as well as wearing your custom made Footlevlers orthotics.
When the body is moving correctly from its foundation (the feet) the rest of the body no longer is straining, when the spine is align, the body and nervous system has a greater capacity to function with healthier happier feet.
